If the contractor desires to use the city utility services during construction (weather permitting), the water meter must be installed before any water service begins. The contractor is required to pay any hookup fees and deposit. A beginning meter reading must be taken by city maintenance at the time of installation and given to the City Finance Officer. Once construction is completed, a final meter reading must be taken by city maintenance and water turned off at that time. The contractor will be billed for the water usage based on the city’s rates for each 1,000 gallons or portion thereof of usage. If water service is provided and no meter has been installed or no initial and final meter readings have been taken, a fee of $100 will be assessed to the contractor. When the new applicant applies for service at this location, a new meter reading will be taken by city maintenance and services supplied only if all deposit and connection fees have been paid to the city.
