10-2-4: DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Part time auxiliary police officers shall perform such duties as assigned by the chief of police and are permitted by statute. To be hired or retained in office, part time auxiliary police must:
   A.   Be twenty one (21) years of age.
   B.   Be a citizen of the United States or an alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.
   C.   Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
   D.   Hold a valid driver's license.
   E.   Pass written, oral, physical aptitude, state of Illinois law enforcement training board POWER test, psychological examination, polygraph examination and a complete background check, including submission of fingerprints to the Illinois state police bureau of identification and FBI.
   F.   Not be convicted of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude.
   G.   Be of good moral character.
   H.   Not be discharged from any other police department for cause related to the performance of duty.
   I.   Be a certified Illinois law enforcement officer, or complete the appropriate course and be certified within eighteen (18) months of hire; or the time permitted by statute, whichever is less. (Ord. 97-25, 8-15-1997)
