539.31 LICENSE PLATES.
   (a)   No person who is the owner or operator of a motor vehicle shall operate, or cause or permit to be operated a motor vehicle unless such vehicle displays the distinctive license plates legally issued for the current year by the State Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and with such plates securely fastened to the vehicle in the manner legally prescribed.

   (b)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
