129.06 AUXILIARY POLICE.
(a) An auxiliary police unit is hereby established in the Police Division as authorized by Ohio R.C. 737.051. The Chief of Police shall subject to the approval of the Mayor, make all appointments and removals of auxiliary police officers.
(b) The Chief of Police shall be the commanding officer of the auxiliary police unit, and subject to the approval of the Mayor, shall have the right to organize, direct and manage the affairs of the auxiliary police in all respects. Auxiliary police officers shall be commissioned and employed as peace officers as defined by Ohio R.C. 109.71 whose primary duties are to preserve the peace, protect life and property and enforce the laws of the State and the ordinances of the City. Auxiliary police officers have all police powers, but shall perform only such police duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.
(c) Auxiliary police officers shall be subject to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Police Division. Services performed by auxiliary police officers shall be on a voluntary basis.
