1505.05 FLAME-SPREAD RATING OF CARPET ASSEMBLIES, RESILIENT FLOORING OR OTHER SPECIAL FLOOR WEARING SURFACES OR INTERIOR FINISHES.
(a) The flame-spread rating for carpet assemblies, resilient flooring or other special floor wearing surfaces for all occupancies other than those in subsection (c) hereof shall not be less than the flame-spread rating for interior finishes as designed by the Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC) for that classification of occupancy.
(b) Proof of compliance on flame-spread shall be by either:
(1) A copy of the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM E-84 (Tunnel Test)) or American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM E-162-67 (Radiant Panel Test)), sent to the Fire Prevention Bureau.
(2) A certified statement from the manufacturer that the product has passed either of the tests in subsection (b)(1) hereof in the approved testing laboratory.
A. Approved independent testing shall mean such as listed in the appendix of the Ohio Basic Building Code as approved for such test.
B. Certification from the manufacturer shall state name and location of approved testing laboratory, type of test, product tested, date of test, flame spread and smoke density results of the test. Certification shall be signed by an officer, i.e., president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer of the manufacturing company.
(c) This section shall not apply to one, two or three-family dwellings.
