Pursuant to Ohio R.C. 735.31, the Mayor, with the approval of Council, shall employ a Street Commissioner who shall have charge of and be held responsible for the maintenance and repair of streets and alleys located with the corporate limits, and who will be held directly responsible for such maintenance and repair and such other duties as are provided by law.
