A Board of Zoning Appeals is hereby created. BOARD when used in this section shall be construed to mean said Board of Zoning Appeals. The Board shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council. A City Council member appointed by the Mayor shall be an ex officio member of the Board. Appointments shall be made for terms as set out in 65 ILCS 5/11-13-3. The Mayor shall annually during the month of May of each year, with the consent of the City Council, designate one of the members of the Board of Zoning Appeals to serve as Chairperson for a term of one year. The City Council shall have the power to remove any member of the Board for cause after a public hearing. All members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
