(A) For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CELLAR. That portion of a building, partially or wholly, underground having more than 42 inches of its clear height below the grade plane. A CELLAR shall be non-habitable and shall not be counted as a story.
CORRIDOR. A hallway, passageway or other compartmented space providing the occupant(s) with access to the required exit(s) of the building or floor area.
MULTI-FAMILY APARTMENT HOUSE. A building or portion thereof containing more than two dwelling units and not classified as a one- or two-family dwelling.
OCCUPANT. Any person (including owner or operator) living, sleeping, cooking, or eating in, or having actual possession of a dwelling unit or rooming unit.
PLUMBING. The practice, materials, and fixtures used in the installation and appurtenances within the scope of the Plumbing Code of the State of Illinois.
SUPPLIED. Installed, furnished, or provided by the owner or operator.
(B) Whenever the words DWELLING, DWELLING UNIT, ROOMING HOUSE, ROOMING UNIT, PREMISES, are used in this chapter, they shall be construed as though they were followed by the words “or any part thereof”.
