§ 91.25 REDEMPTION.
   A dog or other animal captured and impounded under the provisions of this subchapter and determined not be to affected with rabies may be redeemed into the custody of the owner, or person having the right of possession of such animal as follows:
   (A)   (1)   The person redeeming the animal must show proof that the animal is currently inoculated and obtain a release from the city by payment of the $25 release fee for the first time the dog is impounded. Each additional time the dog is impounded the release fee shall be as follows:
         (a)   Second release fee: $50;
         (b)   Third release fee: $75;
         (c)   Fourth release fee: $100; and
         (d)   All subsequent release fees: $250.
      (2)   This fee is per household, and not per animal. This fee is not the sole fee that the city may charge, as the owner is still subject to ordinance violations if a dog is at large.
      (3)   The city issued release form must be displayed to the proper authority at the Madison County Animal Shelter at the time the animal is redeemed.
   (B)   An animal being held in the city’s temporary animal shelter may be released upon display of the city issued release form to the appropriate authority within the Police Department.
