§ 91.24 IMPOUNDMENT OF DOGS.
   The Chief of Police, or his or her designee, shall have the power to take or have taken and have impounded all dogs and other animals as follows:
   (A)   All dogs running at large;
   (B)   All dogs and animals affected with rabies;
   (C)   All dogs and other animals suspected by the Chief of Police to be exposed to or be affected with rabies, including dogs or other animals known to have been bitten by a rabid animal, whether such dog or other animal is running at large or on a leash and whether licensed or unlicensed. The above dogs and other animals shall be impounded in the City Animal Shelter or at any other shelter which the Chief of Police may designate; and
   (D)   In order to implement the provisions of this subchapter with reference to the impoundment of dogs, the Chief of Police or such persons as he or she may from time to time designate are hereby empowered to use implements commonly known as tranquilizer guns for the purpose of injecting tranquilizer fluids into animals running loose, contrary to the provisions of this subchapter.
