§ 31.003 INTEREST IN CITY CONTRACTS.
   No municipal officer shall be interested, directly or indirectly, in any contract, work, or business of the municipality, or in the sale of any article, wherever the expense, price, or consideration of the contract, work, business, or sale is paid either from the treasury or by any assessment levied by any statute or ordinance. No compensation shall be paid to any city officer or employee in addition to that provided in the ordinance fixing his or her salary.
