The following additions, insertions, deletions and changes are hereby made to the Illinois plumbing code:
A. Any dwelling containing any floor (including basement floors) below grade at foundation are required to have an overhead sewer. All fixtures located below grade shall drain to an ejector pit with pump (minimum sump twenty-four inches (24")). Approval of the building official shall be required for any other type of installation.
B. Pursuant to 17 Ill. Admin. Code 3730.307 (c)(4) and subject to the Illinois plumbing code (77 Ill. Admin. Code 890) and the lawn irrigation contractor and lawn sprinkler system registration code (77 Ill. Admin. Code 892) be it hereby ordained by the Village of Woodridge, all new fixtures and irrigation controllers installed after the effective date hereof shall bear the WaterSense label (as designed by the U.S. EPA WaterSense program), when such labeled fixtures are available.
C. A reduced pressure zone backflow prevention device shall be installed inside the building on the water supply line serving the lawn sprinkler system, shall be protected from freezing, shall be installed before a pump or device, and shall be located no more than ten feet (10') from the water meter. Water meters and backflow devices shall not be installed in valve vaults or manholes. The reduced pressure zone backflow device must be a minimum of one and one-half feet (1.5') and maximum of four feet (4') above the floor.
Exception: In residential lawn sprinkler systems the reduced pressure zone backflow device can be installed farther than ten feet (10') from the meter as long as it meets all of the other requirements contained here within.
D. Approved Materials For Building Sewer, Table 890. App A Delete the following materials (1, 2, 5, 8, 9, and 11).
E. Approved Materials For Water Service Pipe, Table 890. App A Delete the following materials (1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15).
F. Water service (before the meter): Mechanical joint required, soldered or silver soldered joints are not approved.
G. Approve Building Drainage/Vent Pipe, Table 890. App A Delete the following materials (1, 4, 12, 13).
H. Approved Materials for Water Distribution System, Table 890.App A Delete in its entirety. Add: "Type K or L copper only."
I. Lawn sprinklers may be installed on parkways and utility easements subject to the following requirements:
1. Sprinkler heads shall be flush with grade when not in operation.
2. A declaration of covenants in a form prepared by the village of Woodridge shall be executed by the property owners and recorded with the appropriate recorder(s) of deeds prior to the issuance of a permit.
J. The water meter shall be installed inside the building. Water meter can be installed outside a building only with the building officials approval.
K. Water Service Piping Size. The water service pipe from the street main (including the tap) to the water distribution system for the building shall be at least one and one half inch (1.5") diameter, type K, copper. (Ord. 2016-4, 2-4-2016; amd. Ord. 2023-36, 11-2-2023)
