7-5B-7: HYDRANTS:
   A.   Installation Of Hydrants: Water hydrants with auxiliary valves shall be installed at intervals not to exceed four hundred feet (400') and shall be of a type approved by the Director. Hydrants shall be located within the right-of-way. Valve boxes shall be placed on all auxiliary valves. (1976 Code §20-117)
   B.   Use Of Fire Hydrants: All hydrants erected and connected with the water system belonging to the Village for the purpose of extinguishing fires in the Village are hereby declared to be public hydrants and no person or persons other than members of a legally constituted fire district or department shall open any of said hydrants or attempt to draw water from the same, except for extinguishing fires, and shall not in any manner interfere with or injure any of said hydrants. If special conditions arise which require utilization of hydrants for any purposes other than extinguishing fires, upon written application, the Director may grant temporary use of such facilities.    C.   Violation: In addition to any of the activities described hereinabove, no person shall attach anything to, alter, or otherwise tamper with a hydrant in any fashion, except by the express consent and direction of a duly authorized Village official.
   D.   Payment: Any person charged with a violation of this section may, in lieu of prosecution for a violation hereof, make payment in accordance with section 1-4-2 of this Code. (Ord. 2006-43, 8-3-2006)
