6-5-1: NO PARKING PLACES:
No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic control device, in any of the following places: (1976 Code §19-120)
   A.   On a sidewalk, parkway or bike path. (Ord. 2004-30, 5-20-2004)
   B.   In front of a public or private driveway.
   C.   Within an intersection.
   D.   Within fifteen feet (15') of a lateral line extending from a fire hydrant to the curb.
   E.   On a crosswalk.
   F.   Within twenty feet (20') of a crosswalk at an intersection.
   G.   Within thirty feet (30') upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic control signal located at the side of the roadway.
   H.   Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within thirty feet (30') of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone unless the mayor and board of trustees, on highways under their jurisdiction, indicate by ordinance a different length and cause same to be shown by signs or markings.
   I.   Within twenty feet (20') of the driveway entrance to any fire station on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station, and on the side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within seventy five feet (75') of said entrance when properly signposted.
   J.   Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when such stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic.
   K.   On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street.
   L.   In or upon any highway within a subway.
   M.   In, upon or along any designated fire lane. (1976 Code §19-120)
   N.   At any place where official signs prohibit or restrict stopping, standing or parking of any vehicle. (1976 Code §19-120; amd. 1991 Code)
The director of public works, when so directed by the mayor and board of trustees, shall post such areas with a sign or signs conspicuously located and indicating that the stopping, standing or parking of any vehicle is so prohibited or restricted. No person other than a police officer shall move a vehicle into any such prohibited area, or away from a curb such distance as is unlawful, or start or cause to be started the motor of any motor vehicle, or shift, change or move the levers, brake, starting device, gears or other mechanism of a standing motor vehicle to a position other than that in which it was left by the owner or driver thereof, or attempt to do so.
