5-6-2: WILD, DANGEROUS ANIMALS; AUTHORITY TO KILL:
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, raise, breed or maintain within the corporate limits of the village, except as otherwise provided herein, any wild animal, including, but not limited to, any wild mammal, reptile, fowl, insect or arachnid, which is not naturally tame or gentle but is of a wild nature or disposition and which, because of its size, vicious nature, unpleasant odor, poisonous venom or other characteristics of the same nature, could constitute a danger to human life, health or property. The term "dangerous animal" also means and includes any domestic mammal, reptile, fowl, insect or arachnid which, because of its size or vicious propensity or other characteristics, could constitute a danger to human life, health or property. The members of the police department are authorized to kill any dangerous animal of any kind when it is reasonably necessary for the protection of any person or property. (1976 Code §4-9)
