5-1-10: POLICE TRAINING:
   A.   Participation In Illinois Police Training Act 1 : The village hereby elects to participate in the program provided for in the Illinois police training act. (1976 Code §11-24)
   B.   Certification Required: Before an individual may commence regular employment as a police officer, he must have been certified by the Illinois local governmental law enforcement officers training board as having successfully completed an approved basic training course as provided in the Illinois police training act. (1976 Code §11-25)
   C.   Completion Of Basic Training: The basic training outlined in subsection B of this section must be completed by the trainee within six (6) months of the date of his initial full time employment. (1976 Code §11-26)
The board of police commissioners 2 of the village are hereby instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to the personnel rules 3 , the manual of rules of the police department and the rules of the board of police commissioners requiring that any person appointed to the police department of the village pursuant to the provisions of 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/10-2.1-29 and the Illinois police training act 4 , shall not become a regular member of the police department until and unless he shall have successfully completed the approved basic training course within six (6) months of the date of his initial full time employment.    D.   Training Indemnification Agreements: The village administrator is authorized to execute, from time to time, indemnification agreements required by agencies providing police training services to the village provided such agreements are in a form acceptable to the village attorney.
