5-1-8: DUTY TO ASSIST POLICE; RESISTING OR INTERFERING WITH POLICE:
   A.   Duty To Assist Police: It shall be the duty of every citizen in the village between the ages of eighteen (18) and fifty five (55) when called upon by any member of the police department, in case of exigency, to promptly aid and assist such officer in the execution of his police duties. Any person who shall refuse to give aid and assistance shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty five dollars ($25.00) and not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00) for each said offense.    B.   Resisting, Interfering With Police: It shall be unlawful for any person to resist any member of the police department in the discharge of his duties, or any other person duly authorized to perform police duty, or to in any way interfere with, prevent or hinder him in the discharge of his duty as such member, or to offer or endeavor to do so, or to assist any person in the custody of any member of the police department to escape or to attempt to escape from such custody, or to attempt to rescue any person from custody.
