10-4-6: PUBLIC LANDS:
   A.   Public Uses: All sites within the area of a preliminary plat which are proposed by any official plan element for a public use such as a school, major village park, municipal building, etc., shall be reserved on the preliminary plat for one year from the date of approval of that plat. The responsible agency may accept dedication or must purchase the site within that year, or the owner may submit his own proposal for its use. The responsible agency may extend the reservation period one additional year by passing a resolution expressing its intent to acquire the proposed site.
   B.   Integral Open Space: Each subdivision shall be designed with fifteen percent (15%) of its net residential land area in integral open space to provide recreational opportunity and amenity for the benefit of the dwellers in that subdivision. The village board may accept dedication of this land or may receive its permanent protection, or equivalent, by any other suitable legal means. (1976 Code §16-74)
