2-4-4: MEMBERSHIP; TERM OF OFFICE; CHAIRPERSON:
The Board of Police Commissioners shall consist of five (5) members, each of whose term of office shall be three (3) years and until their respective successors are appointed and have qualified; provided, however, that the terms of three (3) of the members first appointed shall expire on April 30, 1994 and the terms of the remaining two (2) members first appointed shall expire on April 30, 1995.
The members of the Board of Police Commissioners shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. On or about May 1 of each year, the Mayor shall, subject to the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees, designate one of the members of the Board of Police Commissioners as chairperson for a term ending the following April 30 and until his or her successor has been appointed and has qualified.
