In order that adequate provisions be made for the preparation of a comprehensive village plan for the guidance, direction and control of the growth and development or redevelopment of the village and contiguous territory not more than one and one-half (11/2) miles beyond the corporate limits and not included in any other municipality, and in order that: a) zoning appeals from the zoning officer, b) applications for variation from title 9 of this code, and c) other matters relating to title 9 of this code, or applicable Illinois statutes, may be properly heard and addressed by the village, a plan commission is hereby created under the authority of an act of the general assembly of the state of Illinois entitled "Illinois municipal code", as amended, and the authority of the village as an act of its home rule powers to further the goals of protecting and promoting the public health, safety, and welfare.
The plan commission (hereinafter referred to as "the commission") shall consist of seven (7) members. (Ord. 2005-49, 9-1-2005)
