§ 70.08 VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER INSPECTION; FEE.
   (A)   All persons who desire a vehicle identification number inspection pursuant to I.C. 9-18-8-9 or other applicable statute or regulation may apply to the Chief of Police for such inspection.
   (B)   The Chief of Police shall collect a $5 application fee with each such application. Such application fees shall be remitted to the Clerk-Treasurer and shall be deposited into the city’s General Fund.
   (C)   For each application so submitted, the Chief of Police shall conduct an investigation compliant with I.C. 9-18-8-9 or other applicable statute or regulation, and shall ascertain and verify that an appropriate vehicle identification number has been attached to the subject vehicle.
   (D)   The Chief of Police shall establish and maintain a log specifying the date and name of each applicant for such an inspection and confirming that the application fee was collected.
   (E)   Accounting and expenditure of all funds collected under this chapter shall be in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Indiana State Board of Accounts.
