All smoke detectors in new construction shall be placed as directed by the Fire Chief or his or her designated agent, and the Fire Chief, or his or her designee, shall have the power to require the relocation of any smoke detector found by him or her or the designee to be placed in a manner that prevents or impairs its ability to detect and give early warning of smoke or fire.
