§ 34.31 MEMBERS.
   (A)   The Board of Police Commissioners shall be appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The terms of office of the members shall be three years and until their respective successors shall be appointed and qualified. However, no appointment shall be made by the President within 30 days before the expiration of his term of office; further, the first appointments to the Board shall be made for the terms provided by statute. Vacancies arising from death, resignation, removal or otherwise shall be filled in the same manner as an original appointment. ('79 Code, § 500(12b))
   (B)   No person holding a lucrative office under the United States, this state or a political subdivision thereof, or a municipality, and no person related by blood or marriage up to the degree of first cousin to any elected official of this village shall be a member of the Board. No more than two members of the Board shall belong to the same political party as determined by affidavit according to statute. Members shall be officers of the municipality and shall file an oath of office and a bond in a sum not less than that fixed from time to time by the Board of Trustees by resolution, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of the office. Members of the Board shall be subject to removal according to statute. ('79 Code, § 500(12c))
