There is hereby created the position of Chief of Police, which position shall be filled by appointment by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. The Chief shall hold such position during the pleasure of said corporate authorities or for such period as may be agreed to by the corporate authorities; however, no such period shall in any event beyond the April 30 immediately following the date of appointment. Neither the Chief of Police nor any other member of the Police Department shall be an elective officer of the village.
