§ 32.026  CHIEF OF FIRE-RESCUE-EMS DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   The Town Manager shall establish the process for selecting the Chief of the Department and shall appoint the Chief. The Chief will serve under the direction and at the pleasure of the Town Manager.
   (B)   It shall be the duty of the Chief of the Fire Department to:
      (1)   Supervise, coordinate, and direct the extinguishing of fires, mitigation of technical rescue activities, delivery of emergency medical services and, and mitigation of any other emergency or disaster mitigation;
      (2)   Preserve and safeguard all equipment of the Fire Department;
      (3)   Compel, when necessary, all officers of the town or other persons to aid in the extinguishing of the fires and mitigation of other emergencies;
      (4)   Enforce all rules and ordinances relative to fire prevention;
      (5)   Inspect or cause to be inspected all equipment and facilities of the Fire Department and coordinate needed repairs and maintenance;
      (6)   Report all violations of any provision of this code or other ordinance of the town related to fire prevention;
      (7)   Report monthly to the Council the number of fire calls, number of members on the roster, number of man hours training, and such other matters pertaining to the Fire Department, its organization and operation as he or she deems best;
      (8)   Report annually to the Council the names, residences and occupations of all firefighters and such other matters pertaining to the Fire Department, its organization and operation as he or she deems best; and
      (9)   Do such other and further things necessary for the proper and efficient operation of his or her department and for the prevention of fire.
      (10)   Appoint, at his or her discretion, officers and members of the Fire-Rescue-EMS Department in a manner sufficient to ensure effectiveness and response readiness.
