(A) The driver of any vehicle shall obey the directions of any official traffic-control device applicable thereto and placed in accordance with the Traffic Code and any other traffic ordinances of the town, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, subject to the exceptions granted the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle.
(B) It shall be unlawful for any operator of a motor vehicle to leave the roadway and travel across private property to avoid an official traffic-control device.
