(A) The state Fire Prevention Code, as amended from time to time by the state, is hereinafter referred to as the Fire Code.
(B) It shall be the duty of the Bureau to enforce the Fire Code, relevant to activities in the town, including but not limited to:
(1) The prevention of fires;
(2) The storage and use of explosives and flammables;
(3) The elimination of fire and explosion hazards within existing buildings and structures, including those under construction;
(4) The means and adequacy of egress exits from all commercial structures and other similar places of gathering;
(5) The establishment of fire lanes and parking restrictions to allow adequate access for fire fighting and other emergency vehicles to structures and fire hydrants;
(6) The investigation of the cause, origin, and circumstances of fires;
(7) The issuance of notice of violations of this subchapter and the Fire Code;
(8) Assisting the Building Administrator with fire safety issues and inspections; and
(9) Establishment of a schedule of fees for inspections required under this subchapter which shall be incorporated into the town’s fee schedule in Chapter 150 of this code. All fees shall be payable to the town. Fees collected shall be designated as Fire Prevention Bureau inspection fees and placed in the town’s General Fund. Inspection fees are due and payable upon written notice to the owner or occupant of the property inspected. Fees not paid within 30 days shall be assessed a late fee of not less than $10 or one half the amount of the original fee, whichever is more. Refusal to pay fees in full is considered a violation of this subchapter.
