155.12  UNIFORM AND CLOTHING ALLOWANCE.
   (a)   EDITOR’S NOTE: The year for police uniform and clothing allowance is from May 1st through April 30.
   Employees of the Village Police Department shall request purchase orders from the Village Fiscal Officer for their clothing allowance and that upon receipt the Fiscal Officer shall reimburse the employee, with Council’s approval, for said purchase up to the amount due that employee under the ordinance establishing the clothing allowance for the Police Department.
   (b)   Employees of the Water, Sewer and Street Departments, both supervisors and laborers, are hereby awarded a three hundred dollar ($300.00) per employee, per year, clothing allowance.  Once appropriated, this allowance may be used by employees of the Water, Sewer and Street Departments to purchase uniforms, at locations designated by the Village Administrator, or other designated Village official.  The purchases may only be made with advance approval of the Village Administrator.  The Village shall pay for the uniform purchase directly to the vendor at designated locations.  All clothing must say “Village of Windham” in a prominent location on the work clothes.
   (c)   Although the clothing allowance may be carried over from year to year in order to purchase an article of work clothes particularly suited to an employees position, the employee shall not have any right to a cash disbursement or other type of compensation for unused clothing allowance as of the date of separation of employment from the Village.
