It shall be unlawful for any person, company or corporation to own, drive or have control of any automobile, automobile hack or other vehicles of any kind whatsoever for the purpose of conveying or hauling persons for price, sum or compensation or who shall receive the pay for such hauling or conveying within the corporate limits of the city without first having procured a license to do so from the Clerk-Treasurer of the city.
