Any retiring officer of the Police Department with 20 or more years of full-time service with the Police Department, may, within six months of his or her retirement date, purchase the service handgun to which he or she had been assigned, and one magazine for said service handgun, for the purchase price of $5. The purchase price so paid shall become a part of the Firearms Training Fund.
