(A) This chapter shall henceforth be known as the “Wrecker Service and Vehicle Storage Facility Ordinance”.
(B) The purpose of this chapter is to provide the city’s Police Department personnel with a safe, efficient and equitable system for the removal of damaged, disabled, abandoned or illegally parked motor vehicles from city streets. All applications, fees, lists, complaints or other written information concerning the administration of this chapter shall be maintained and monitored by the city’s Police Department, under the direction and supervision of the Mayor. All requests by police personnel for wrecker and/or storage facility services within the city, shall be administered through a Police Department radio dispatcher as directed herein. All wrecker services and vehicle storage facilities that meet the qualifications and requirements prescribed herein below shall be eligible to provide municipal wrecker and/or vehicle storage services.
