(a) The Building Inspector and any Assistant Building Inspector shall receive such compensation for services as otherwise provided by ordinance of Council. The Assistant Inspector shall not be entitled to compensation in excess of thirty-eight hours per calendar month.
(b) The Building Inspector and any Assistant Inspector, prior to entering upon the duties of such office, shall give bond in the sum of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) for the faithful performance of their duties. The surety or sureties on such bond shall be satisfactory to and approved by the Mayor, and the City shall pay the premium therefor.
