The approved early warning fire detection system required by this chapter shall be approved by Underwriters Laboratories, Underwriters Laboratories of Canada or Factory Mutual. An approved detector shall be installed adjacent to the outside of sleeping rooms, or within Class B multiple dwelling suites. The detector shall be sensitive to visible and invisible products of combustion, except that detectors sensitive to heat only are not acceptable. The system required by this chapter shall be installed and maintained in conformity with Chapter 1501 of the Codified Ordinances.
