§ 71.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   CONTRACTED AGENT. One who acts for or in the place of another by authority from him or her. A representative, emissary or official of a government. An individual or firm contracted to execute orders of Township Highway Commissioner or County Superintendent of Highways.
   HIGHWAY COMMISSIONER. Township official duly elected under township authority and charged with the duties expressly stated in ILCS Ch. 605, Act 5, § 6-201.
   MOTOR VEHICLE. Any passenger vehicle, truck, tractor, snowmobile, tractor-trailer, truck- trailer, trailer or semi-trailer propelled or drawn by mechanical power.
   SNOW REMOVAL OPERATIONS. The act of removing snow within the right-of-way of township or county authorized snow routes.
   SNOW ROUTE. Any street or road so designated and posted by the Township Highway Commissioner or the County Superintendent of Highways as major routes of vehicular travel.
   STREET or ROAD. All property dedicated or intended for public highway, freeway or roadway purposes, or subject to public easements and officially accepted by the Township Highway Commissioner or the County Superintendent of Highways as such.
   SUPERINTENDENT OF HIGHWAYS. Duly appointed official by the County Board whose duties include, among others, supervision of the construction or maintenance of all county highways within the county.
