§ 74.12 HANDICAPPED PERSONS: SIGNS AND SIZE OF PARKING SPACES.
   (A)   Beginning July 1, 1988, all signs erected and used to designate the reservation of parking facilities for a person with disabilities shall be in a form and manner prescribed under ILCS Ch. 625 § 11-301, and all parking spaces reserved for a person with disabilities, except those reserving on-street parking areas, shall be at least 16 feet wide.
   (B)   Non-conforming signs in use prior to July 1, 1988 shall not constitute a violation during their useful lives, which shall not be extended by means other than normal maintenance.
   (C)   Beginning October 1, 1992, all parking spaces reserved for a person with disabilities, except those reserving on-street parking areas, shall be at least 16 feet wide. Signs shall be vertically mounted on a post or wall at front center of the parking space, no more than five feet horizontally from the front of the parking space and set a minimum of four feet from finished grade to the bottom of the sign.
   (D)   Such signs shall be located so they cannot be obscured by a vehicle parked in the space.
