Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to a fine not to exceed $250 or imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 90 days or both for a first offense and to a penalty of a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed one year or both for any subsequent offense.
