§ 90.06 APPREHENSION AND IMPOUNDMENT.
   (A)   (1)   An authorized officer may apprehend unlicensed dogs, pigs or animals at large.
      (2)   The Town Police Department shall, whenever possible, see that such animals are transferred to a designated kennel at the earliest possible date, where the animals may be taken care of and reclaimed by the owner under the rules and regulations of the kennel.
      (3)   When an animal is impounded by the town before being transferred to a kennel, the owner reclaiming the animal shall be required to pay a recovery fee in the amount of $75 to the town to cover costs incurred by the town in apprehending and impounding the animal.
   (B)   (1)   It shall be the duty of the Town Police Department and such other persons, as from time to time may be designated by resolution of the Board of Trustees, to apprehend any dangerous dogs running at large.
      (2)   Any dangerous dog found running at large shall be impounded and may be returned to its owner only upon proof of registration as a dangerous dog.
      (3)   When an animal is impounded by the town before being transferred to a kennel, the owner reclaiming the animal shall be required to pay a recovery fee to the town in an amount set by resolution of the Board of Trustees to cover costs incurred by the town in apprehending and impounding the animal.
   (C)   (1)   In any event, when a dog is impounded, the impounding authority shall give notice to the owners of the impoundment and advise the owners whether and under what circumstances the dog may be redeemed.
      (2)   The owner of any animal impounded, confined or destroyed pursuant to the terms of this chapter shall be responsible for all costs of confinement, impoundment or destruction.
