§ 36.03 POLICE OFFICER.
   (A)   The office of city police officer is hereby established.
   (B)   The powers and duties of the office of city police officer shall be as stated in the adopted position description for the position, as contained in the classification plan for city employees or as otherwise provided by the City Council.
   (C)   The individual holding the position of city police officer shall take the following oath upon assuming office:
      “I, (state your name), do solemnly swear to faithfully execute the duties and fulfill the responsibilities of the office of city police officer to the very best of my abilities and with honesty, dependability, and integrity. I do solemnly swear to uphold, in the conduct of my office, all ordinances of the City of Wickliffe and all laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and of the government of the United States. I do further solemnly swear to conduct myself at all times with a dignity of purpose and manner which will bring credit to the citizens of the City of Wickliffe.”
   (D)   The city police officer shall, before entering the duties of office, execute a bond to the city in such penal sum of $5,000, conditioned for the faithful performance of duties, including the duties of all offices of which the officer is ex officio incumbent. The bond shall be approved by the City Council.
   (E)   The individual holding the position of city police officer shall be compensated for his or her efforts in accordance with the adopted pay plan, or as otherwise provided by the City Council.
