This chapter is designed to establish procedures and standards for the development and subdivision of land within the city limits and territorial jurisdiction of the city. It is further designed to provide for the orderly development of the city and its environs. The regulations contained herein are intended to coordinate proposed development with existing development and with officially-adopted plans for the future development of the city, to ensure the provisions of adequate facilities for transportation, water, sewerage and other public facilities in subdivisions, for the dedication and reservation of recreation areas serving the immediate neighborhood and of rights-of-way or easements for street and utility purposes, to ensure the proper legal description, monumentation and recording of subdivided land and to create conditions essential to public health, safety and general welfare.
