It shall be unlawful for any person to pile or allow paper, rags, boxes or combustible materials to accumulate on property owned or occupied within the incorporated areas of the city. Open burning is prohibited in the incorporated areas of the city where leaf and limb pickup is provided as per North Carolina Administrative Code 15-A-2D .1900 “Open Burning” unless approved by the Fire Chief or Fire Code Official and must meet the requirements for open burning under North Carolina Division of Air Quality Standards. Any person in violation of this section is subject to civil penalty.
