(A) The Committee shall consist of seven appointive members who shall be appointed by the City Council for terms of three years. In making the appointments, the Council shall make a diligent effort to ensure that the diversity of the community is represented on the Advisory Committee taking into consideration gender, age and racial characteristics of the city’s communities, as well as making sure that appointees live within the corporate limits, extraterritorial jurisdiction or the service area of the City Recreation Center within the county. The City Council shall appoint residents that are known to have an interest in parks, recreation and leisure-time activities, either by personal knowledge, recommendation of such, or by way of application.
(B) Beginning January 1, 2017, three members shall be appointed to serve for a term of three years, and three members shall be appointed to serve for a term of two years. One high school student shall also be recruited to serve only on a yearly basis. Thereafter, all members shall be appointed to serve for terms of three years, or until a successor is appointed and qualified. Terms begin on January 1 and end on December 31. Members serve at the pleasure of the City Council.
(C) At no time may members appoint or reappoint themselves back onto this Committee.
(D) Committee members who move out of the area which establishes residency shall terminate his or her committee membership on the date he or she officially moves and is no longer a resident of the required jurisdiction.
