Every person elected or appointed to city office shall, within 20 days after his or her election or appointment, and before he or she shall enter upon the duties of his or her office, take and subscribe an oath of office. This oath may be taken before any person authorized by law to administer oaths, or before the Mayor or Recorder, to wit:
“I,___________________, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of this State, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of ___________ to the best of my skill and judgment, so help me God.”
