§ 50.01  DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT. Any person who produces solid waste while conducting any business, whether not-profit or profit making, including, but not limited to, any business which serves the public, churches, service organizations or clubs.
   CONTAINER. Any receptacle with specifications as described in this subchapter, which houses solid waste, including, but not limited to, garbage bags, garbage cans and dumpster units.
   CONTRACTOR. The person entering into a contract with the city for the collection and disposal of solid waste.
   GARBAGE. Waste, animal and vegetable matter of every kind and character including, but not limited to, animal and vegetable matter as it accumulates in hotels, restaurants, eating houses and private homes in the kitchens and on the tables of such places and also including such waste, animal and vegetable matter as accumulates in meat markets, grocery stores and fruit and vegetable markets.
   LANDLORD OF A SINGLE- OR MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING UNIT. The owner of record.
   MULTIPLE-FAMILY DWELLING UNIT. Any residential structure in which two or more groups of individuals, living together on a permanent basis as opposed to transient or temporary, reside. Such shall include, but not be limited to, apartment buildings, condominiums, townhouses, duplexes or boarding houses. Such shall exclude, but not be limited to, hotels, motels, tourist homes or other transient or temporary lodging facilities.
   PERSON. Natural persons, corporations, partnerships and associations; the masculine includes the feminine and neuter genders, and the singular the plural.
   RUBBISH. Non-putrescible waste consisting of both combustible and non-combustible waste including, but not limited to, shrubbery and yard trimmings or clippings, grass, weeds, leaves, wood, chips, paper, pasteboard, cardboard, magazines, books, rubber, rags, carpets, bedding, clothing, boots, shoes, hats, straw, packing boxes and cartons, crates, packing material, glass, crockery, bottles, shells, tin cans, metals, ashes, cinders and other similar waste materials which ordinarily accumulate from a household or business, but shall not include discarded automobile or truck bodies or other bulky or heavy objects, nor waste material resulting from any manufacturing, building or construction operation. RUBBISH shall not be deemed to include manure, offal or waste from any poultry yard or stable.
   SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING UNIT. Any residential structure in which only one group of individuals living together on a permanent basis, as opposed to transient or temporary, reside.
   SOLID WASTE. Both garbage and rubbish as defined above.
