Any officer of the city, city official or any other person charged with the enforcement of this subchapter, shall not render himself or herself personally liable in the discharge of his or her duties pursuant to this subchapter, and is hereby relieved of any personal liability for any damages which may accrue to any persons or property as a result of any act required or permitted in the discharge of his or her duties. Any suit brought against any officer, official or any other person charged with the enforcement of this subchapter, shall be defended by the city to the termination of any such proceeding.
