§ 37.24  COMMITMENT FOR FAILURE TO PAY FINE.
   When any person is found guilty of an offense against this city, the Police Judge shall fix the punishment; if the penalty is a fine and cost, the Police Judge shall enter judgment for the amount thereof, and unless the same is paid at once shall direct that the defendant be committed to jail until such fines and costs are paid, but such imprisonment shall not exceed 30 days. If the penalty is a fine and imprisonment the Police Judge may fix the term of imprisonment, and any further order the defendant to be confined in jail, after his or her term of imprisonment has expired, until such fines and costs are paid, but the entire term of confinement shall in no case exceed 30 days.
