No person shall be eligible for the office of Mayor unless such person be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the state for at least three years, a resident of the City or an area which has been annexed by the City for a period of two years next preceding their election, and at least 21 years of age. The candidate shall reside in the City during their term of office.
