§ 35.09 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATE FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBER.
   To be eligible to be a candidate for Mayor or council member, a person must:
   (A)   Be a United States citizen;
   (B)   Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable;
   (C)   Have not been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court;
   (D)   Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
   (E)   Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the municipality for six months. A candidate for Mayor must have resided in the municipality for 12 months next preceding the election.
