§ 31.03 REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION.
   (A)   The Council does hereby adopt the provisions of I.C. 36-7-14 and elects to be governed by such provisions in establishing and conducting the affairs of a redevelopment commission.
   (B)   Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-14-3, the Council hereby establishes the Town of Whiteland Department of Redevelopment (the Department) for the purposes of and to exercise the powers set forth in the Act or otherwise granted by law. The Department will be controlled by a board of five members to be known as the Town of Whiteland Redevelopment Commission (the Redevelopment Commission), two of whom shall be appointed by the Council and three of whom shall be appointed by the President of the Council.
   (C)   Each initial commissioner appointed in 2006 shall serve from the date of appointment to January 1, 2008. Each commissioner appointed thereafter shall serve a one-year term from the first of January after their appointment. Any vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment and the successor shall serve the remainder of the vacated term.
   (D)   Pursuant to I.C. 36-7-14-8, the Redevelopment Commission shall hold a meeting for the purpose of organization not later than 30 days after their appointment, and thereafter each year on the first day of January that is not a Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday.
