(A) Applicability.
(1) The provisions of this section applies to all areas under the authority of the Council of the town, except as may be expressly set forth below.
(2) Pursuant to the emergency rules of the Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board on file with the office of the Secretary of State, Title 169, Series 2 of the Code of State Rules, the town hereby elects to participate in the statewide addressing and mapping project. The Mayor of the town should, pursuant to those emergency rules, serve notice of this election on the Board within five days of the enactment of this section, together with a true copy of this section.
(B) Cooperation with county addressing program; adoption of addressing program; penalties for non-compliance.
(1) All provisions of the 911 addressing and mapping ordinance of the County Commission, dated July 2, 2003, hereby apply within the town, as if fully set forth herein, except that the penalties for non-compliance shall be up to $50 per day, and except as set forth in division (B)(2) below.
(2) Nothing in this section affects existing city-type addresses, which are satisfactory for 911 and emergency services purposes, provided that those addresses are consistent with the statewide addressing and mapping project and otherwise comply with the rules and regulations of the Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board, and the Town Council does not otherwise deem it appropriate or expedient to change or alter any address as part of this process pursuant to its general powers.
(C) Appointment and duties of addressing and mapping coordinators.
(1) The Town Recorder, or his or her successor in office, is hereby appointed the addressing coordinator for the town. The addressing coordinator for the town should cooperate with the County Addressing Coordinator, Statewide Mapping and Addressing Board, the Board’s Project Manager, the County 911 Director, the State Enhanced 911 Council, the County Assessor’s office, municipal corporations within the county that have passed similar ordinances, the United States Postal Service, and other interested agencies and persons in order to accomplish within the town, city-type addressing and other systems essential to the prompt and accurate dispatch of emergency service providers or other emergency services or 911 purposes, and for such other goals of the statewide addressing and mapping project; provided, however, that the addressing coordinator for the town should coordinate with other agencies and persons principally through the County Addressing Coordinator for purposes of the implementation of the statewide addressing and mapping project within the town. The addressing coordinator of the town may not take any official action not expressly authorized in this section or in the 911 addressing and mapping ordinance of the county, dated July 2, 2003, and without the approval of the Town Council.

(D) Interpretation and application. This section is to be interpreted and applied consistent with the statewide addressing and mapping system, where applicable. The addressing coordinator and the mapping coordinator of the town shall make any necessary application to the Statewide Addressing and Mapping Board for a waiver or for local modifications of the statewide addressing and mapping system in order to tailor it to the ordinance.
