§ 32.01 PAYMENT TO ELECTED OFFICIALS.
    (A)   Payment is authorized to each of the members of Council who are in attendance any regular or duly authorized Council meeting. All workshops that are voted on become regularly scheduled meetings.
   (B)   (1)   Payment is authorized to each of the members of Council for attendance to any regular or duly authorized Council meeting. Payment is authorized for members of Council that are absent, have reported off following proper procedures and/or excused due to engaging in any official business of the Town of White Hall, illness of the Council member, or illness or death in the immediate family of a Council member, provided said absences are excused and recognized by a majority vote of Council. All Council members must contact the Mayor, Recorder or Town Administrator in the event they are unable to attend a council meeting. It is considered an automatic unexcused absence if no one is contacted.
      (2)   Any Council member that has more than two unexcused absences will be required to confer with the Mayor or Deputy Mayor to discuss absences.
      (3)   After three unexcused absences, Council may provide a written statement asking for resignation and signed by agreeing Council members. This must be read publicly at a regularly scheduled meeting.
   (C)   IMMEDIATE FAMILY. A spouse, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, child, stepchild, sibling, or any person who regularly resides in the household or within the prior six months regularly resided in the household, whether related directly by consanguinity or affinity.
   (D)   The salary for Mayor shall be $8.75 per hour for 20 hours a week for a total of $175 per week and benefits that will include premium paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage that is offered with the town’s health insurance plan.
   (E)   The salary for Recorder shall be $225 per regular or duly authorized Council meeting for which payment is authorized.
   (F)   The salary for all other Council members shall be $150 per regular or duly authorized Council meeting for which payment is authorized.
   (G)   The salary for the Deputy Mayor shall be $200 per regular or duly authorized Council meeting for which payment is authorized.
   (H)   The salary for the Treasurer shall be $225 per regular or duly authorized Council meeting for which payment is authorized.
   (I)   Under no circumstances shall a Council member receive a salary for any meeting during which said Member is absent due to attendance at other employment or job duties for which the member receives income.
   (J)   There shall be a limit of 30 paid Council meetings per calendar year; or otherwise determined by Council, however, that Council members and officers shall not be paid for any meeting which is 15 minutes or less in duration.
   (K)   Consistent with W.Va. Code § 8-5-12, no salary of any officer shall be increased or diminished during his or her current term. Stated differently, this section shall be interpreted and applied at all times consistent with the language and intent of W.Va. Code § 8-5-12.
